Progress was remarkably swift on the EXPAN/STIC building as this timelapse video shows.

The prototype structure had been built in the lab for testing purposes and was then reassembled on the grounds of the University of Canterbury campus to become the office for the Structural Timber Innovation Company.

Within the lab it had withstood rigourous seismic testing, but has since withstood another 9,500 plus aftershocks.

The building is an example of how robust and damage averse the structure is and this video shows the ease of construction/relocation.

SEE THE TIMELAPSE SEQUENCE OF ITS CONSTRUCTION ON THE UC CAMPUS SITE IN THE VIDEO ABOVE.

For more information, read how this and other recent buildings have benefited from the use of EXPAN technology.
